Introduction:
This hands-on training course builds your skills in installing, configuring, and performing common administrator tasks and end- user tasks with the VMware Horizon Mirage software. This course is based on the Horizon Mirage 5.0 release
Pre-requisites:
In addition to their professional experience, students who attend this training should already have the following technical knowledge:
- Using VMware vSphere Client to view the state of virtual machines, datastores, and networks
- Opening a virtual machine console in VMware vCenter Server and accessing the guest operating system
- Navigating Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008
- Recommended completion of VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage (ESX6)
Learners should also have the following Microsoft Windows System Administration Experience:
- Configure active directory services, including DNS, DHCP, and time synchronization
- Restrict user’s activities by implementing group policy objects
- Configure Windows systems to allow remote desktop connections
- Build an ODBC connection to an SQL server database
Course objectives:
After completing this course, students will be able to:
- Install and configure Horizon Mirage components.
- Demonstrate how to navigate and use Horizon Mirage Management Console.
- Identify the process for deploying Horizon Mirage to endpoints.
- Explain the tasks for capturing and assigning base layers and application layers.
- Identify the tasks for performing a Windows XP to Windows 7 migration.
- Define the methods of performing desktop recovery.
- Recognize how to plan and perform a mass hardware migration
- Identify Horizon Connection Server installation, architecture, and requirements.
- Describe the authentication and certification options for a Horizon environment
- Recognize the integration process and benefits of VMware Workspace ONE Access and Horizon 8
- Discuss performance and scalability options available in Horizon 8
- Describe different security options for the Horizon environment
