Shape the Future of Digital Service Management with ITIL® (Version 5)
Digital transformation is no longer optional. It’s the reality of how organizations operate today. Artificial intelligence, automation, and product-centric business models are redefining how value is created and delivered. To thrive in this environment, professionals need frameworks that are practical, adaptable, and future-ready.
That’s where ITIL® (Version 5) comes in.
A Modern Framework for Modern Challenges
ITIL® has been the global benchmark for IT service management for more than three decades. With Version 5, the framework evolves to meet the demands of today’s digital-first world. It equips individuals and teams with the skills to:
- Connect strategy, design, delivery, and continual improvement into one coherent model
- Adopt AI responsibly and integrate it into service management practices
- Strengthen resilience and adaptability in fast-changing environments
- Deliver measurable outcomes across the entire product and service lifecycle
Building on What You Already Know
If you’re certified in ITIL® 4, your knowledge remains fully relevant. Version 5 is not a replacement, it’s a revolution. Existing certifications continue to hold value, while new pathways make it easier to align learning with real-world roles.
Transitioning from ITIL® 4 to ITIL® (Version 5)
Your existing ITIL® 4 certifications continue to hold value as you move into ITIL® (Version 5).
- ITIL® 4 Foundation remains a recognized entry requirement for advanced Version 5 modules.
- Practice Manager certifications from ITIL® 4 are still valid and contribute toward the Practice Manager designation.
This includes modules such as:
- Monitor, Support & Fulfil (MSF)
- Collaborate, Assure & Improve (CAI)
- Plan, Implement & Control (PIC)
All of these continue to count toward your progression in ITIL® (Version 5). There is no need to retake them as your prior learning and achievements remain fully relevant as the framework evolves.
The ITIL® (Version 5) Certification Pathway
One of the most practical improvements in Version 5 is how learning paths align more closely with what professionals actually do at work.
The new qualification scheme is designed to support professionals at every stage of their career:
- Foundation – The entry point for ITIL® knowledge. Core concepts and shared language.
- Practice Manager – Hands-on capability across ITIL® practices
- Managing Professional – Managing digital products and services end-to-end
- Strategic Leader – Shaping governance and digital strategy
- Master – The highest level of ITIL® achievement. Advanced applied expertise.
- Extension Modules – Specialist extensions – including AI governance – are also being introduced to address emerging needs.
Each level builds progressively, ensuring that your expertise grows alongside the needs of modern organizations.
