Introduction
Enterprises are moving to cloud-native microservices architectures. Quarkus is an exciting new technology that brings the reliability, familiarity, and maturity of Java Enterprise with a container-ready lightning-fast deployment time. Red Hat Cloud-native Microservices Development with Quarkus (DO378) emphasizes learning architectural principles and implementing microservices based on the Red Hat Build of Quarkus and Red Hat OpenShift. You will build on application development fundamentals and focus on how to develop, monitor, test, and deploy modern microservices applications. Red Hat Certified Cloud-native Developer exam included in this offering. The Red Hat Certified Cloud-native Developer exam is included in this offering.
This course is based on OpenShift 4.14, and Red Hat Build of Quarkus 3.8.

This course is designed for Java application developers.
Pre-requisites
- Experience with Java application development or Red Hat Application Development I: Programming in Java EE (AD183)
- Be proficient in using an IDE such as Visual Studio Code
- Recommended, but not required: experience with Maven and version control
- Recommended, but not required: experience with OpenShift or Introduction to OpenShift Applications (DO101)
Course Objectives
As a result of attending this course, you will understand how to develop, monitor, test, and deploy microservice-based applications using Quarkus and Red Hat OpenShift.

| Implement microservices based applications by using the Red Hat Build of Quarkus runtime and associated developer tooling. |
| Session 3: Testing Quarkus Microservices |
| Implement unit and integration tests for microservices. |
| Session 4: Developing Reactive and Asynchronous Microservices |
| Describe the features of reactive architectures and implement reactive services by using Quarkus. |
| Session 5: Securing Quarkus Microservices |
| Secure microservice communications by applying origin validation, requests authentication and authorization. |
| Session 6: Implementing Quarkus Microservices on the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform |
| Develop and deploy cloud-native applications on the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform. |
| Session 7: Implementing Fault Tolerance in Microservices |
| Implement fault tolerance in a microservice architecture |
| Session 8: Monitoring Quarkus Microservices |
| Monitor the operation of a microservice by using logging, metrics and distributed tracing. |
Associated Certifications and Exam
The Red Hat Certified Cloud-Native Developer exam (EX378) tests your skills and knowledge with regard to coding the server side of Java applications using the Quarkus framework. The exam focuses on the basic skills required to create a complete microservice using a persistent data store.
By passing this exam, you become a Red Hat Certified Cloud-native Developer, which also counts toward earning a Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA®) certification.
This exam is based on Red Hat Build of Quarkus v3.8.

Prerequisites for this exam
- Student should have taken the Red Hat Cloud-native Microservices Development with Quarkus (DO378)course or have comparable hands-on experience
- Familiarity with using Visual Code/VS Codium in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment
- Good experience with JSE, including a knowledge and understanding of the core Java concepts and APIs, is necessary for this exam. For example, Exceptions, Annotations and the Collections API are all required during the exam
- Some familiarity with OpenShift is beneficial but not required
- Some familiarity with Messaging and communication with Kafka is beneficial
Upon completion of courses within a Red Hat Learning Subscription (RHLS), Red Hat issues digital badges and certificates of attendance. These are recognized as official proof of completion.
