The Praxis Framework provides guidance on the knowledge, processes, competencies and capability maturity required to manage projects, programmes and portfolios in any environment. The Foundation level which provides students with a solid understanding of the procedures, tools and techniques within the management functions of the Praxis framework.

  • Individuals interested in a career in project or programme management.
  • Individuals pursuing the Praxis Framework Practitioner certificate.



Students will be required to complete pre-course reading prior to their attendance to ensure that they are prepared for the course. Students should receive their courseware two weeks prior to the start date of the course. It is therefore encouraged that students read, and familiarize themselves with, the Praxis official course manual prior to the start of the course. The Foundation exam is scheduled to take place on the Wednesday.


Course objectives

After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Understand the characteristics and context of a project and a programme and the benefits of effective P3 management.
  • Understand the purpose of the Praxis framework, the P3 roles, documents and functions, and their use in the Praxis process models.
  • Understand the goals and activities within the Praxis process models and how they interface.

Praxis is a free, community driven framework which can help individuals and organisations realise the intended benefits of projects, programmes and portfolios – keeping stakeholders happy.

Templates, articles, a 360° capability maturity assessment tool, a glossary of project management terminology and much more is available at available at is an integrated framework, encompassing knowledge, method, competency and a capability maturity model. As it uses a common taxonomy and terminology across all elements, there is no need to cross reference or translate between guides.

The Praxis Framework™ recognises one size does not fit all and can be easily tailored. The framework is community driven, practitioners can suggest improvements or extensions to any page and these will be considered for inclusion.

These features result in greater efficiency in the adoption and implementation of good practice – reducing training and operating costs and decreasing the time needed to implement effective project management.​
