Introduction

The purpose of this part-qualification is to prepare a learner to operate as a Design Thinking Practitioner. Design Thinking Practitioners apply design thinking approaches and methodologies to understand and address complex challenges and to collaboratively create innovative solutions that address human needs. They immerse themselves in the environment and context of the problem and approach it from multiple perspectives and collaboratively analyse, synthesise, and make sense of data to inform the development of relevant and innovative solutions.

Rationale

Design thinking is essential for addressing ill-defined problems, especially in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). It supports digital transformation, fosters innovation, and helps organisations remain agile. The qualification addresses the growing demand for design thinking skills across industries, enabling learners to contribute to economic and social development.

Pre-requisites

  • NQF Level 3 Qualification
  • Grade 12
