Introduction
The LPI, Linux Essentials course is a great way to show that you have the foundational skills required for your next job or promotion. The Linux Essentials course will provide students with entry level skills of Linux as an operating system, basic open source concepts and the basics of the Linux command line.
In this course, students will be exposed to Linux virtual machines and a step-by-step labs which offers hands-on access to practice Linux command line concepts. With no previous knowledge of Linux required, this course is the perfect starting point to gain Linux skills. It also serves as an ideal stepping-stone to the more advanced LPIC professional courses such as LPIC1, LPIC2 and LPIC-3.

Audience profile
This course is aimed at anyone coming to Linux and computing for the first time.
Pre-requisites
Before attending this course, students must have:
- Basic computer skills, such as how to use a keyboard and how to insert a disc into a CD-ROM drive.
Course objectives
To receive the Linux Essentials Certificate the candidate must:
- Have an understanding of the Linux and open source industry and knowledge of the most popular open source Applications;
- Understand the major components of the Linux operating system, and have the technical proficiency to work on the Linux command line; and
- Have a basic understanding of security and administration related topics such as user/group management, working on the command line, and permissions.

Associated certifications and exam
This course will prepare delegates to write the LPI Linux Essentials Exam 010-150.
Successfully passing this exam will result in the attainment of the LPIC Linux Essentials Entry Level Certificate.
On successful completion of this course students will receive a Torque IT attendance certificate.
Please note: Candidates wishing to write these LPI exams, must register online to receive the LPI Identification number before enrolling for these exams. This Identification number must be presented at our exam centers together with the booking form.
