Introduction
The CompTIA Linux+ course builds on individuals existing user-level knowledge and experience with the Linux operating system to present fundamental skills and concepts that they will use on the job in any type of Linux career.
This course can benefit you in two ways. If your job duties include Linux troubleshooting, installation, or maintenance, or if you are preparing for any type of Linux-related career, it provides the background knowledge and skills you will require to be successful.
Linux+ XK0-005 is now developed by CompTIA and offered as a single, performance-based exam. Linux+ validates the necessary skills of IT professionals with hands-on experience configuring, monitoring, and supporting servers running the Linux OS.
It is the right step for all early to mid-career IT professionals utilizing Linux-based systems, whether they are managing infrastructure, cloud workflows, or ensuring the cybersecurity of their organization. Linux+ also validates the critical Linux skills needed in cloud and cybersecurity.

Pre-requisites
This course is intended for entry-level professionals with basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating systems, who wish to increase their knowledge and understanding of Linux concepts and skills to prepare for a career in Linux support or administration, or to prepare for the CompTIA Linux+ certification examinations. A typical student in this course should have CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ certification and preferably 9 – 12 months of Linux experience.
Course objectives
After completing this course, students will be able to:
- Manage hardware and configure systems, including understanding of Linux boot process concepts, kernel modules, network connection parameters, managing storage, cloud and virtualization technologies, and localization options – all within in a Linux environment.
- Operate and maintain systems, including software operations, managing users and groups, working with files, and managing services. Additionally, candidates will be able to explain server roles, automate and schedule jobs, use and operate Linux devices, and compare Linux graphical user interfaces.
- Apply security topics such as user/group permissions and ownership, access and authentication methods, best practices, logging services, Linux firewalls, and file backup, restoration, and compression.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose Linux issues, including system properties, user issues, application, and hardware issues.
- Demonstrate automation and scripting skills, including basic BASH scripts, version control using GIT, and orchestration processes and concepts
